Entry to the orchestra is by audition only, and applicants should be of Grade 8 standard or above. KCLSO is open to all students studying at King’s College London or students studying at other London-based universities/ conservatoires. You must provide proof that you meet this criteria before we can offer you a place. We rehearse on Thursday evenings during term time from 6:30-9pm at the KCL Strand Campus. We perform in three concerts plus an annual international summer tour. Members have the opportunity to enter the concerto competition and/or the assistant conductor competition. To maintain the basic running of the orchestra, there is a small subscription fee of £40.

Auditions this year (2021-2022 Season) will take place ONLINE due to COVID-19 regulations. Please submit a video of yourself performing the required material to kclsymphonyorchestra@googlemail.com by Friday 24th of September at 8pm. Additionally, please fill out this application form: https://forms.gle/1edAjk9pKdVYQ13A7

The video should include one solo piece up to five minutes long and an orchestral excerpt. The excerpt can be found on the "Orchestral Excerpt" page of our website. The video must be recorded in one single take (no editing) and we must see you in the video. The video can be shared to kclsymphonyorchestra@googlemail.com via Google Drive or an alternative sharing platform. You will not need to play with an accompanist for this audition.

We warmly invite you to join our thriving and diverse community. Aside from the weekly rehearsals, orchestra members also participate in different social activities organised by the orchestra which include post-rehearsals drinks at the student union bar and concert trips.

We are very much looking forward to receiving your audition videos!
